Self care Series: ④Fingers & Arms

The self care method introduced here works for whole body, but is especially recommend for prevention of neck, shoulder, elbow, wrist, finger, and upper back pain. They are also good for headache, migraine, TMJ, ear disorders (tinnitus, sudden deafness), mental health such as calming mind, insomnia, anxiety, and so on.

Human beings have evolved to stand on two feet in order to use hands freely. Their complex structure gives a great range of movement and precision. We can use our fingers much more freely than our toes.

Natural movements always start from spines. Even when moving a finger, a smooth connection from thoracic vertebrae to a finger is necessary for natural finger movement. However, modern life style puts constraints on the linkage system and distracts the natural movement.

For example, using a computer while sitting on a chair with bad posture can easily shut down the linkage system of a body. Because of that, typing and using mouse in the same posture all day long could trigger many problems to a body.

This self care method is one way to recover this linkage system. I do this every day before going bed.

※These pressure points could be quite tender on palpation. There is no need to apply strong pressure to them.

※If you have wrist injury, please be gentle for this exercise.
