I attended "Management & Mirai summit" hosted by SEIDO association on August 19th. "Mirai" means "future" in Japanese. This summit really opended up the door for the future of acupuncture.
Let me report about two important innovations introduced in the summit; "TSUBO NET" & "Project MIRAI."
1. What is TSUBO NET?
TSUBO NET is SEIDO association's original search engine. It allows you to search for case studies by acupuncture points and vice versa. And it also shows you where you can get the same kind of treatment.
People often search for clinics with experiences in treating symptoms which they are suffering from. Therefore, building a large database of case studies is the key to success. However, what individual clinics can build is limited. TSUBO NET works as a large database for acupuncture clinics that practice SEIDO acupuncture.
With conventional acupuncture, this kind of database is pretty much useless. Although there is a standard for acupuncture points, locations of these points are not precise enough to give the same result. So, even if two acupuncturists follow the same treatment protocol, chances are they end up with different results.
The point locations of SEIDO acupuncture are set precisely with millimeter units. This creates the huge value for building a large database of case studies. TSUBO NET works as the greatest search engine for patients who are looking for clinics to get a treatment for their specific symptoms. At the same time, TSUBO NET works as the study tool for SEIDO acupuncture practitioners.
The operational test of TSUBO NET will start on September 1st, 2018.
2. What is project MIRAI?
In the previous article, I reported about the revolutionary acupuncture research project held in Hokkaido. It had been 5 months since I visited the project site. The progress of the research project is incredible.

The result of the acupuncture experiments surprised many doctors and medical professionals. As the result, a new project called "project MIRAI" has been launched.
Project MIRAI initially involves several hospitals. Acupuncture centers are getting ready to open inside of these hospitals. SEIDO association sends accredit acupuncturists to these centers. They give acupuncture treatments to hospital patients and/or participate in research projects. These acupuncture centers also works as a place for the mentor program to educate junior acupuncturists.
As I wrote in "The Current Situation surrounding Acupuncture in Japan", many acupuncturists in Japan are struggling to stimulate demand for acupuncture.
